Description as a Host
I am an friendly and experienced Host and have been hosting for approx 10 years. I live in Netherfield, which used to be a small village but is getting bigger and has lots of nice local shops and supermarkets. I have 2 grown up daughters and 2 Teenage Grandsons who all live locally to me, so we see each other quite often and go walking with our dogs, who all get on very well. My dog is a small very friendly French Bulldog, who is very well behaved. When i'm not at work as a Support Worker, we like to go for walks locally as there are lots of parks and Country walks. I also enjoy reading, cooking, watching films, going to the Theatre and Concerts and arts and crafts and painting up old furniture.

Small French bulldog- named Mabel, very friendly and well behaved, isnt allowed on the furniture (has her own basket) also not allowed in the bedrooms upstairs. Also have some fish in a small pond in the garden.

Victorian Terrace house in a quiet cul de sac in Netherfield Village. Lots of shops locally 5 mins walk and then 5 mins drive to Shopping centre with lots of shops & cafes. A couple of minutes away from local bus route into Nottingham and Netherfield and Carlton Train stations, which can also be used to travel into Nottingham or to travel to London, Skegness, Newark.

First day activity together
Included in the price the Host will do something with the Student Guest. There are no restrictions not to have the Host do the same things week after week. Typical activities are: day out with the family, visit to town, shopping, cooking..
Every afternoon and weekend day we will go visiting and doing activities together. The cost will be shared among our Student Guests. If you work part-time, we can arrange according to your work schedule, if you are going to have classes with us, we will have these in the morning, and do these activities in the afternoons.

Full board accommodation, with packed lunch (like sandwich, fruit and water) is included. Here are listed the types of diet we eat at home and that we would provide without extra charges. In general we eat traditional but also international food, breakfast is light and dinner our main meal. Your packed lunch will include one or two sandwiches, please let me know over the phone what you would like.

There are 2 local train stations, where trains go to Skegness to the seaside or London for a city trip, there are also some more Country side place close by like Newark and Stoke Bardolph. The local train and bus services also go into Nottingham Town Centre for lots of good shops, cafes. restaurants and bars, Cinemas, theaters, Bowling alley, indoor golf and rescue rooms. There are also a couple of local Gyms and swimming pools. .

linda was nice to me and she was available when i needed help. she brought me on a little trip during saturday. the bedroom was comfortable, the house and the rooms were acceptable. The food was a little poor in quality and quantity since i’ve been to other houses sometimes and i saw the difference between the meals.
Pamela was a nice student and chatted with me and had pretty good English. She said she didn’t like any salad or vegetables or any spiced food and she also said she didn’t eat a lot so only gave her small portions but anything I made she ate and said she had enjoyed, and I always offered her extras or other snacks or fruit for after dinner. Most days she decided to eat out most as she met up with her friends after work.

She was a really good student, polite and helpful and her English was pretty good and she was eager to learn more.

The host was very polite and welcoming with me. She took me to visit many symbols of the city, such as: Wallaton House, Old Market Square, LakeSide Arts and many others. We met his family and some of his friends and it was amazing! Everyone has been really great to us. The food she prepared for us was amazing and she even let us try vegetarian versions of some foods so we could experience his vegetarian diet. She was never grumpy or rude with us, she was always available if we needed anything and she even tried the Italian food prepared by me and my roommate and changed her meal times to make us feel at ease. We always spoke together more than the 30 minutes because we spent a lot of time together and shared our thoughts about everything. I highly recommend it to anyone!
Giulia was a pleasure to host, so polite, helpful and caring. Enjoyed all the trips and outings and was always interested in finding out new information and learning new facts about things and places. Her and her friend that I hosted together were lovely students and felt like part of our family and friends. Mabel my Frenchie dog also loved them both and got lots of fuss.

Andrea was a quiet boy but very pleasant, would of been better to attend with other students or part of a group.
