We live in a large detached house far from the city centre, where I work, so I usually give a lift to students for them to get to work. We have 3 happy children who love to meet new people: Max 2009; Grace 2012; Oscar 2015.
One room (Room 2) is able to sleep up to 4 people, but we would never put guests in rooms with strangers. If you wish to visit with a friend and share a room, please contact us to confirm this request. We also have two very friendly and gentle cats, who would be very happy if you let them into your room for a cuddle and a stroke.
Description as a Host
We’ve been hosting since 2012 and have welcomed hundreds of people from all across the globe to come and stay with us – helping them experience the UK and to help them improve their English. We are still in contact with many of our past home-stay guests, who I am pleased to say have become friends. In our house there is me, my wife (Andrea) and our three children: Max (22/10/2009), Grace (06/02/2012) and Oscar(02/01/2015). They are fun and loving children who genuinely enjoy having guests over and are always keen to learn more about our guests, their country and their culture. We are a happy, sociable family who will enjoy sharing our home-life with you and helping to ensure that you have an enjoyable, enriching and safe time here in the UK - with lots of memories to treasure long after you return home. We like to sit and eat meals together, and we enjoy lots of conversation around the dinner table. I really like to cook and can make a wide range of meals. My wife is vegetarian, so we can meet any dietary needs you might have. I am also a qualified teacher, and have taught English as a Second Language at CEF levels A2-C1– so can also probably help your English conversation skills as well.

10pm curfew, or as agreed in advance – depending on age. Smokers must do so outside the house. Meals are typically between 6-8pm as we like to try and eat together; however this can be flexible and arranged on a day-to-day basis. We understand that this is your experience, and you want to get the most out of your time here. :) You do not need to bring a DBS check equivalent (criminal record check) if you are under 18.

First day activity together
Included in the price the Host will do something with the Student Guest. There are no restrictions not to have the Host do the same things week after week. Typical activities are: day out with the family, visit to town, shopping, cooking..
Every afternoon and weekend day we will go visiting and doing activities together. The cost will be shared among our Student Guests. If you work part-time, we can arrange according to your work schedule, if you are going to have classes with us, we will have these in the morning, and do these activities in the afternoons.

Full board accommodation, with packed lunch (like sandwich, fruit and water) is included. Here are listed the types of diet we eat at home and that we would provide without extra charges. In general we eat traditional but also international food, breakfast is light and dinner our main meal. There is a bus which goes from the airport directly to Nottingham and it is very frequent. I will collect you from the city centre or equally local pick-up location. When you leave, I will also take you back to the same place for you to get the bus.

We are happy to organise something into the diary that gets us doing things – Nottingham has lots of activities available at the weekend. Some are free, some you would need to pay for. The host and his family were really kind, available and welcoming. The first day, when my friend and I arrived, we went to see the workplace. I felt as home thanks to the care and attentions for our needs. Fun has never been lacking; we always did something together as wach films at home or visit some places around the town. We spoke more than the 30 minutes expected during the weekdays. I absolutely recommend staying here!!
